Brave speleologists are tempted by the mystery of unexplored depths of one of the most impressive caves the Cave Over Devil’s Whirlpools. The cave is located near Bijelo Polje, in the  Bistrica river canyon. Going upstream through the Djalovica gorge, on the left side of the valley, at the place where the valley joins the gorge, there is the lowest of the four lakes known as Vrazji virovi – Devil’s Whirlpools. The largest of the three entrances to the Cave Over Devil’s Whirlpools is in the upper part of the valley. 11750 meters of the cave have been explored so far.

The explored part consists of a large number of galleries, passages and chambers, which can be divided into four parts according to the position, direction and general morphological characteristics. Those parts are: Lakes Gallery (Kanal sa jezerima), Big Labyrinth (Veliki lavirint), Big Gallery (Dugi kanal) and the passages that connect the upper and lower galleries.

Lakes Gallery is distinguished by a large number of lakes, both permanent (about 15 of them) and periodic (20-30), as well as by small stalactites and stalagmites.

Big Labyrinth is a maze of about 15 galleries of various dimensions. It is here that the concentration of chemical deposits – speleothems is the most abundant and the most varied in colors and shapes compared to the other parts of the cave.

Big Gallery over whelms the other parts of the cave by its stunning dimensions and its length. The average width of the gallery is about 8 m, although it can reach 20 m, and the average height is about 20 m, sporadically 50 m. Apart from the chamber named Cathedral, with a big stalagmite monolith, there are also two channels 30 m and 25 m deep. Big Gallery belongs to the upper part of the cave, as Big Labyrinth does, but it has more water – lakes, siphons, even streams. There is a lot of gravel covered by calcite and many fine sand deposits. Calcite deposits are often huge, but due to the gallery’s size, they are not as visible as in Big Labyrinth.

The fourth morphological part is made of passages that connect the upper (Big Labyrinth and Big Gallery) and lower levels (Lakes Gallery). Characteristics of these passages are a combination of the two mentioned levels – some parts are more similar to the upper and some to the lower level.

Although Big Labyrinth and Big Gallery have different forms, they can be considered an entity compared to the Lakes Gallery, which is morphologic and genetic different.

At this time the cave is not open for tourists. Only explorers have access to its chambers.
