news from the national Tourism organisation of Montenegro
13th
December 2006
With the aim of extending the current tourist offering through promoting mountaineering and hiking as an opportunity for an active and interesting holiday, as well as providing an opportunity to view the natural beauty of the Southern Montenegrin hinterland, still mostly unexplored by many tourists, hikers and mountaineers, the Montenegrin Mountaineering Association, together with several mountaineering clubs and NGOs, initiated the Coastal Mountaineering Transversal Route project. This one-year long project included: -
the re-creation and development of the 138 km long
hiking route and - the preparation and printing of a Guidebook that includes a Transversal map, - a promotional leaflet in English and local language; - the organisation of marking and guiding courses. This project will contribute significantly to the diversification of the Montenegrin tourism offerings. The result is a great opportunity for an active holiday throughout the year to the coastal mountains from Orjen (North of the Bay of Kotor) through Lovcen down to Rumija in the southern part. The printed guide is available through the clubs involved in the project. Please refer to the contact details on this leaflet: [Part 1/Part 2].
