Bijela
is a homeland of the excellent Boka shipbuilders. There was a
shipyard even during the reign of the founder of
Herceg Novi - King Tvrtko. The domestic masters were taught
the skill of shipbuilding mostly by the skilled craftsmen coming
from the Korcula’s school. The current personnel of the
Adriatic shipyard is based on this tradition. It is mainly
engaged in repairs of the vessels, from the big transoceanic liners
up to the smallest boats. If you have your personal yacht, you can
find first-class service for your vessel near these docks.
One of the sights of Bijela is certainly the church of Mother’s of
God cassock, dating from the XIV century, with extremely valuable
frescos. It was restored and protected in 1998.
Two hotels “Park” and “Delfin”, with an increasing number of private
boards, have definitely provided a very interesting future of a
remarkable tourist town for Bijela. Along with Kamenari, where
ferries link Herceg Novi and Tivat, Bijela is the second pillar of
the “east gate” of the
Herceg Novi’s Riviera.
