Every year in April, Bar is the host of the International Television Festival, an event where almost all the segments of the TV production are presented and awarded. At the same time, this is an opportunity for TV workers, guests form several countries, to exchange their views and broadcasts, and to get to know current technological innovations in this field. Traditional award of the festival is Golden Olive.

"Angola – my family", produced by RAI 3, was the broadcast which won the Grand Prix of the Fifth International TV Festival Bar 2000. RAI was also awarded for the best and the most various genre selections of programmes, respecting high media standards.

Broadcast called "Danilo Kis", produced by Belgrade "Centarfilm", was awarded as the best documentary programme. Several other authorial prizes were also awarded - Drazen Zarkovic for directing "Salter", produced by HTV, Natalija Ilugdnina, for the scenario of "Jefrosinja's diary”, produced by Telefabrika and Russian TV Prof, Vitorino Picolli, for photography in “Roberto Capucci – the art of dressing”, by RAI.

In film category, TV film "Blue truth" of French co-production of "Cine TV", TV France 2, and M6 won. Authorial prizes in this category were awarded to Victor Buturlin, for directing the film "Ricochet", produced by Russian ORT, Mladen Krstevski for the scenario of the "Last waltz", produced by Macedonian TV and JAKI VEL, Livio Poioni, for photography in "Warm snow" of Romania TV, and Beatrice Dale, the famous French actress, for the best female role in "Blue Truth". The prize for the best man role was not awarded.

On Saturday, prizes in three categories were awarded. The jury decided to equally award the best broadcasts for children and about children. The broadcast "Puki", produced by TV of Bosnia Herzegovina was awarded the best broadcast for children.

German State Television ZDF was awarded for the programme "India – little servants", in the category for the best programme about children. In the same category, authorial prize for photography was awarded to the cameraman of the State TV of Montenegro, Miodrag Strugar for "Sea gulls of childhood", produced by Montenegrin state television.

In category of Current TV programme, "Nis to Serbia – now or never" broadcast, produced by TV Nis and "Unifor system", was awarded. In the same category, the authorial prize was awarded to Juha Porntankorvij, the director of "The nightmare over Chechnya", produced by Finnish TV.

Traditional prize "Golden script of TV Novosti", which is awarded every year by a special jury of Belgrade TV magazine "TV Novosti", was awarded to Sanja Blecic, journalist of Montenegro State Television for the "original reporter’s approach to the broadcast named "On the other side".
