 The
first sailing regatta in Montenegro was held in
1924. The most important championships in this sport are the
Adriatic Regatta and the Montenegro Cup - Budva (Bar) and Tivat.
The Association was founded in 1948 and consists of six sailing
clubs: Lahor from Kotor, Delfin from Tivat, Jovo Dabovic from
Baosici, Jedro from Meljine, Jugole Grakalic from Herceg Novi and
Jadran from Bar.
The
Association’s
main activity is to organize sailing regattas for small sports sailing
boats (class: Laser Standard, Laser Radijal, Europe, Optimist) and for
the class of Cruisers. During the year about fifteen races are
organized mainly for small sailing boats, but for Cruisers as well.
The most important regatta for small sailing boats is the Montenegro
Cup (for the classes of Laser and Optimist). Every club also organizes
its memorial regattas for these sailing boats.
The section of the Cruiser class organizes a couple of races:
Montenegro Championship in Herceg Novi, South Adriatic Regatta between
the towns of Herceg Novi and Bar, Trans Adriatic Regatta between the
towns of Polinjani and Petrovac.
