Fishing is a sport which many people associate with calm water and they expect their fishing rod to start shaking. However, fishing in Montenegro is quite a different experience. First of all, you can choose a lake, a river or the sea to fish in.

Lake waters are calm and teeming with fish. You can enjoy the shade of hundred-year old trees at the edge of Black Lake or Biogradsko Lake. The last virgin forest in Europe surrounds Biogradsko Lake. You should certainly throw your fish line in Skadar Lake and wait for a carp, a bleak, or a trout to swallow the bait. It is the largest lake in the Balkan Peninsula.

Moraca, Tara, Piva and Bojana rivers are world famous for abundant trout. People fish these rivers for chubs and many other kinds of fish.

The Adriatic Sea is a story in itself. You can fish from the beach, or a fishing boat, or you can throw in a fishnet. You can fish with a harpoon at night or you can set traps. There are many kinds of fish such as  San Pier, dentex, sea purch, red porgie, mullet, sardelle, as well as shrimp, lobster, octopus, squid, cuttlefish and many kinds of shellfish.

Daily permisson for sport fishing is 15 €. You can get fishing permission in all Municapalities.
