A country with intact nature and a small population situated in the South of Europe is a true paradise for birdwatchers. Diversity of habitats – coast, islands, sea, lakes, ponds, swamps, rain forests, mountains – provide abundance in the number of bird species.

The diversity of bird species attract not only the expert ornithologists, but the visitors who want to combine vacation in a beautiful surrounding with a special interest of theirs – birdwatching.

What can be seen where?

* In the Skadar Lake – in five ornithological reserves (Manastirska tapija, Grmozur, Omerova gorica, Crni zar, Pancevo oko) Dalmatian pelicans and cormorants can be seen (the second largest colony in Europe);

*  In the Sasko Lake (near Ulcinj) area, in addition to the species that are characteristic for the Skadar Lake, some Mediterranean birds can be watched – shelducks and oystercatchers;

*  In Stoj, the Long Beach, the Isle of Bojana and Ulcinj Salt Works Mediterranean birds, including the rare species of velvet scoter, can be seen;

*  In the area of high mountain lakes – capercaillies and shore lark can be seen
